Stage Drenthe

On Saturday, October 18, Drenthe will be the stage for a stunning stage through the province’s characteristic landscape. The day kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with the Bike Festival on Raadhuisplein, where visitors can enjoy live music, activities, and a large screen showing (at 13:30 p.m.) the race in real time. At 11:30 a.m., the team presentation takes place – a perfect moment to see the riders up close before they go head-to-head.

At 12:00 p.m., the riders depart from the Market Square. From there, the peloton winds its way through the peaceful Drenthe countryside, past forests, heathlands, and traditional village greens, heading toward the highlight of the day: the VAM-berg.

The VAM-berg is Drenthe’s highest point and a much-loved climb in Dutch cycling. With multiple steep sides – including sections of up to 16.4% – it’s a serious test for the legs. The peloton tackles this climb several times, giving spectators plenty of opportunities to witness the action up close. 

On the VAM-Berg, a fast finale unfolds towards the finish, where the winner is celebrated to loud applause
