Ready2Race organizes youth cycling activities around NIBC Tour of Holland

In the run-up to and during the NIBC Tour of Holland, the Ready2Race Foundation is organizing a series of free cycling activities for young people. With this initiative, the foundation not only wants to increase youth involvement in cycling but also invest in the future of the sport. The activities will take place in the various start and finish locations of the Tour of Holland.

“The return of the former Ronde van Nederland is not only great for cycling fans, but also for inspiring a new generation. Our mission with Ready2Race is to let children all over the Netherlands discover the fun of cycling. The Tour of Holland is the perfect stage to do this,” says Richard Plugge, board member of the Ready2Race Foundation and CEO of Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

Focus on fun
The activities include school clinics in the run-up to the Tour of Holland, as well as clinics and Rabo Fat Tire Races during the stage days. All activities are designed to combine fun, safety, and sportsmanship. What makes it extra special is that these events take place on or near the same course where the Tour of Holland riders will later compete.

Inspiration for the next generation
Roxane Knetemann, race director of the Tour of Holland, explains: “The NIBC Tour of Holland is not just about elite sport, but also about the experience and inspiration for the next generation. With the Ready2Race Clinics and the Fat Tire Races, we give children the chance to experience for themselves how much fun cycling can be — and on the very same course where the pros will later race. That makes it extra special. It’s exactly this kind of side event that turns the Tour of Holland into a true cycling festival, for young and old.”
