Extra bonus seconds up for grabs in the ‘Red Bull KM’ during the NIBC Tour of Holland

September 30, 2025 16:19

The Red Bull KM will be featured in four stages of the NIBC Tour of Holland. After the Giro d’Italia, the NIBC Tour of Holland is the second race where riders can earn extra bonus seconds in a specific kilometer. The Red Bull KM adds more competition on the road and gives riders the chance to gain crucial bonus seconds in the six-day race.

The Red Bull KM will be included in all stages except the prologue and the individual time trial. Unlike in the Giro d’Italia, riders will have two opportunities to earn bonus seconds. In predetermined laps, the Red Bull KM will be active, giving riders two chances to claim the bonus seconds. The first three riders to cross the Red Bull KM line in that lap will earn 3, 2, or 1 bonus seconds.

According to race director Roxane Kneteman, the Red Bull KM fits perfectly with the ambitions of the new tour:

“The Red Bull KM gives riders something extra to compete for on the road. It adds excitement for the race and for the fans along the route. Experience from the Giro showed that these intermediate sprints can influence the race and the overall classification early in the stage. In short, it’s a valuable addition that makes the competition livelier.”

The NIBC Tour of Holland will be held for the first time in autumn 2025. The six-day race includes a prologue and five stages across different provinces and has UCI 2.1 status.
