Moving together for children with muscle diseases
October 14, 2025 16:30Children on the bike, not on the sidelines
Thanks to the support of the VriendenLoterij, children with a muscle disease will have the chance to ride alongside their parents, professional athletes, or Dutch celebrities in the kids’ bike races and cycling tours taking place in all six host cities of the Tour of Holland. This way, they are not spectators, but participants – right at the heart of the event.
Side events: fun with real impact
Around the Tour of Holland, we and our partners are organizing special activities that directly raise funds for research into muscle diseases in children:
- Request a song in exchange for a donation – because music connects and energizes.
- Auction of unique items and experiences – from signed jerseys to meet & greets with cycling heroes.
- Sale of VriendenLoterij tickets – with at least 40% of every ticket price going directly to Spieren voor Spieren.
Every contribution helps children with a muscle disease stay active and supports crucial research to defeat these diseases.
Crossing the finish line together
For children with a muscle disease, sports mean more than movement: it brings confidence, joy, and breaks social isolation. As our ambassador Erik Dekker puts it: “Participating in sports events takes children out of isolation and gives them confidence and self-worth. This partnership makes a visible and tangible difference.”
From 14 to 19 October 2025, the Netherlands will host six unforgettable days of cycling and togetherness. With the VriendenLoterij as Social Partner of the NIBC Tour of Holland, we are setting course towards a future without muscle diseases – a finish line we are determined to cross together.
