All summer long, the Hague Sports Summer Festivals will take place, where children can enjoy sports activities free of charge. During these festivals, don’t miss the chance to hop on a bike at one of the NIBC Tour of Holland cycling activities. From BMX riding to racing on a digital track, from blending your own smoothie by pedaling to competing in head-to-head cycling challenges – there’s something for everyone! From 21 June to 21 September 2025, The Hague will celebrate its Sports Summer. Experience the best sporting events and take part in countless free activities across the city.

This summer in The Hague, children can enjoy all kinds of free sports activities. In addition, there will be a wide range of sports events for young and old alike, including international top-level competitions.

Hague Sports Summer Festivals

The Hague Sports Summer Festivals are specially designed for children aged 4 to 12 years. Under professional guidance, they can join in on a variety of free sports activities at different locations throughout the city. The municipality is organizing the Sports Summer Festivals in collaboration with Werken aan Sportstad Den Haag (WSDH).

Dikke Banden Races

In the run-up to the NIBC Tour of Holland, four neighborhoods in The Hague will host free Dikke Banden Races for children aged 2 to 12 years old. Kids race against peers on any bike that is not a road bike – from balance bikes to tricycles, and from mountain bikes to regular city bikes. (Fatbikes are not allowed.) Every participant receives a shirt and a medal.
